VoiceXML

Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML) is a markup language for creating voice user interfaces that use open speech recognizer (OSR) and text-to-speech capabilities (TTS). The VoiceXML Forum, a global industry organization, was founded in March, 1999 to promote and to accelerate the adoption of VoiceXML-based applications worldwide. MicroAutomation is a supporting member of the VoiceXML Forum and has helped pioneer the standard and increase its use as the universal standard coding language for writing IVR applications. More than 10,000 commercial VoiceXML-based speech applications have been deployed around the world answering millions of calls each day.

VoiceXML Forum- The VoiceXML Forum is an industry organization formed to create and promote the Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML). With the backing and contributions of its diverse membership, including key industry leaders, the VoiceXML Forum has successfully driven market acceptance of VoiceXML through a wide array of speech-enabled applications.

VoiceXML simplifies speech application development by permitting developers to use familiar Web infrastructure, tools and techniques. VoiceXML also enables distributed application design by separating each application’s user interaction layer from its service logic. Most developers find VoiceXML application development at least three times faster than development in traditional Self-Service environments. For these reasons, VoiceXML has been widely adopted within the speech industry.

MicroAutomation Professional Services uses VoiceXML standards to write IVR applications to provide the greatest flexibility and functionality for our customers. For more information on VoiceXML please visit the VoiceXML Forum at www.voicexml.org.
